PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he is a "very forgiving man" when asked to comment about Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing's tweet in support of him.
"We know that some people – they choose the easy way out. When someone is in power, they support those who are in power.
"At the time they are not in power, they don't support. When they are back in power, they support them again. People are like that," he told reporters after his address to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Youth delegates at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here on Saturday (Dec 29).
He was asked to comment on the educationist's tweet, which was later slammed by Dr Mahathir's daughter Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir.
"I am a very forgiving man," he said.
Lim had earlier tweeted that Dr Mahathir was "right in saying that we just need to set our hearts and minds on achieving greater goals to be a great nation".
Marina had later responded to the tweet, saying that Lim should remain silent as he had a few years ago asked her father to remain silent in order to "preserve his legacy".
A check on Twitter Saturday evening, however, revealed that the @limkokwing account, which at one time sported almost one million followers, had been deactivated.
Do stop it @limkokwing! Where were you last year? Who was it who told Dad to shut up to ‘preserve his legacy’? If PH hadn’t won, would you have snuck into our house uninvited at Raya to apologise? Just stop it.— Marina Mahathir (@netraKL) December 29, 2018
