Ex-Puteri Umno chief Mas Ermieyati joins Bersatu

PETALING JAYA: Former Puteri Umno chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (pic) is the latest addition into Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

According to Mas Ermieyati, she is joining Bersatu to better serve voters at her Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency.

"God willing, I hope to be able to assist Bersatu's efforts in implementing the agenda of strengthening young women, as well as to fight for the welfare of the youth so they are able to have a better life and future."

In a statement issued on Dec 13, Mas Ermieyati also thanked Bersatu chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the party's leadership for accepting her into the party.

"It is time for everyone to cast aside their political beliefs to find a common ground for the interests of the people," she added.

On Wednesday (Dec 12), Sabah Umno was crippled following the exodus of key leaders, including nine out of its 10 assemblymen, five out of its six MPs and 22 out of 25 division chiefs.

It is widely speculated that Bersatu will set up a chapter in Sabah, which the former Umno leaders would be a part of.
