Fitch Ratings has affirmed Malaysia's Long-Term Foreign-Currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) at 'A-' with a Stable Outlook.

PETALING JAYA: With 2018 coming to an end, the time has come for many of us to plan our holidays in the year ahead.

There are six official long weekends in 2019 - Wesak Day (Monday, May 20), Hari Raya Haji (Sunday and Monday, Aug 11 and 12), National Day and Awal Muharram (Saturday to Monday, Aug 31 to Sept 2), the Yang Dipertuan Agong's birthday (Monday, Sept 9), Malaysia Day (Monday, Sept 16) and Deepavali (Sunday and Monday, Oct 27 and 28). The Deepavali holiday, however, is not applicable for Sarawak.

However, it is possible to enjoy an extra three long weekends if one takes leave for several occasions, including the start of 2019 (Tuesday, Jan 1), Chinese New Year (Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb 5 and 6) and Hari Raya Puasa (Wednesday and Thursday, June 5 and 6). All one needs to do is to take an extra day off a day before or after these occasions.

In 2018, there are five official long weekends, including New Year’s Day (Jan 1), Chinese New Year (Feb 16), Hari Raya Puasa (June 15), National Day (Aug 31) and Malaysia Day (Sept 16). These holidays either fall on a Friday, Sunday or Monday.
