FRU trucks stationed near National Press Club

KUALA LUMPUR: Police Federal Reserve Units are on standby near Jalan Tangsi here ahead of the Anti-Icerd rally on Saturday.

An FRU water canon truck, bus as well as several other lorries were seen parked there at around 11.15am.

Dozens of people dressed in white were also spotted heading toward Dataran Merdeka from Padang Merbok.

Participants of the anti-Icerd (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) rally are converging near Masjid Negara, Sogo on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

The rally is aimed at celebrating the non-ratification of the United Nations covenant.

Six main roads around Dataran Merdeka have been closed since 6am for the rally, which is expected to be held from 2pm to 6pm today.

The affected roads are Jalan Hishamuddin (before the tunnel), Leboh Pasar, Jalan Tun Perak (from Masjid Jamek LRT station onwards), Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (near Sogo), Jalan Raja Laut (near Summit Hotel) and Bulatan Dato Onn.
