Lorry driver detained for driving against traffic on SKVE

PETALING JAYA: A viral video of a lorry being driven against traffic on a highway led to the eventual arrest of the driver.

Selangor Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shari'at said that they learnt of the incident due to a police report and the viral video.

According to Supt Azman, the report was made by a driver who was on Tanjung Dua Belas along the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), when he spotted the lorry being driven against traffic.

"The complainant managed to avoid the lorry. The police also received information from social media where a one-minute, 11-second video was uploaded showing the lorry along the same highway being driven against the flow of traffic.

"Following information gathered, a police team was dispatched and the driver was arrested at the Tanjung Dua Belas rest stop," he said when contacted on Friday.

The 59-year-old suspect will be remanded on Saturday (Dec 8) and his blood and urine will also be tested.
