Khairy: BN lost because of 1MDB, not because of so-called Pakatan's lies

PETALING JAYA: Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin (pic) refuted claims that Barisan Nasional lost in the 14th General Elections due to fraud.

In a tweet, he simply wrote, "We lost because of 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Berhad). The end. (sic)"

In the tweet, he also attached a news report from an English daily where former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was quoted saying that BN lost because of "fraud, defamation and false promises made by Pakatan Harapan."

The report also quoted Najib saying there was nothing wrong with Umno and Barisan Nasional.

The Rembau MP's tweet has been liked over 6,000 times and retweeted over 7,000 times at the time of writing.

Several people responded to Khairy's revelation, with some applauding his tweet.

"At least you are not in the denial," tweeted @1kacoo.

Another user @kahwooi_tan wrote, "Too much corruption to be honest. Top to bottom."

Twitter user @hellfried pointed out that he is glad someone in Umno said it.

"There are still does who rather hide behind a paper thin facade of falsehood in a misguided attempt in stay relevant in #MalaysiaBaharu," he added.

Najib is currently being slapped with over 30 counts of graft and money laundering involving involving RM2.3bil linked to 1MDB fund.
