PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian Airlines flight from Shanghai to Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (Oct 21) morning was cancelled, due to a burst tyre during takeoff.

Flight MH387 was set to leave the Pudong International Airport at 1.30am on Sunday (Oct 21) and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 7.30am when the incident occurred.

The aircraft was then towed to the taxiway to allow for inspection and all passengers onboard safely disembarked.

“Investigation is currently still ongoing. Safety remains of utmost importance to Malaysia Airlines, and it will ensure that the aircraft is airworthy before being deployed for service,” the airline said in a statement on Sunday.

The passengers were accommodated at nearby hotels, while some were reallocated onto other available flights.
