PETALING JAYA: CCTV footage of a woman hit by a car and dragged along the street at Shaftsbury Square, Cyberjaya has gone viral.
The video was posted on the Cyberjaya Community Facebook page.
The footage shows the victim, Wan Amirah Wan Alias, walking across what appears to be a parking area at 7.35pm on Wednesday (Oct 17).
As she crosses, a car which is out of control speeds directly at her.
Despite her frantic attempts to avoid it, the car veers towards her and hits her.
According to a screenshot of a tweet posted on the Facebook page, the woman is dragged for a few metres before the car runs over her.
The person who made the tweet added that the victim was eventually given treatment but believes that the victim went into a coma and passed away early Thursday (Oct 18) morning at around 5am.
The tweet said the suspect who rammed into her is believed to be a foreigner driving a rented car.
A witness, only wanted to be known as Redha, said he was with his wife and baby at a nearby restaurant having dinner, when the incident occurred.
He said he heard a screeching sound that followed with a first bang (as seen on the left of the video footage frame), followed by a second bang.
The witness said the woman “managed to avoid the second bang, but the car didn’t stop. It swerved and went straight into her.”
He also added that the last thing he saw was that the victim had “flung and the car ran over her”. He said that all this happened too fast.
There were about 20-30 people who immediately went to the woman at the scene, but Redha called the ambulance immediately.
The responder over the phone had advised him to make sure that the woman is not moved and that the crowd should give her space. The police and ambulance arrived at around 10 minutes.
The witness also says that he “knows the woman lost some teeth and she was in and out of consciousness. Barely breathing.”
