Selangor speaker goes bald to raise funds for cancer research

KLANG: Having lost his wife to breast cancer, Selangor Speaker Ng Suee Lim knows the difficult journey families go through when a member is diagnosed with the dreaded disease. 

To show his support to non-governmental organisations that offer support to families and patients, as well as spread awareness on cancer, Ng shaved his head bald on Saturday (Oct 6).  

“When a loved one is battling cancer, the whole family faces the biggest challenge of their life," said Ng. 

Ng’s hair was shorn off at the Bald & Beautiful 3.0 event organised by the Khind Starfish Foundation to raise funds. 

“The funds raised will go towards these organisations as well as towards cancer research,’’ he said. 

He added it was no issue for him to go bald. Ng’s wife was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, which she managed to overcome. 

But the disease returned 11 years later in the form of bone cancer, and she died in 2016.
