KUALA TERENGGANU: Another woman could be whipped six times with the rotan after she pleaded guilty to attempting to offer sexual services at a hotel here.
The 30-year-old divorcee pleaded guilty before Syariah judge Rosdi Harun at the Syariah High Court here Sunday (Sept 23).
According to the charges, an enforcement team from the Terengganu Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) found the woman preparing to offer sexual services to a man in a hotel room at around 11.45pm on Sept 17.
She was charged under Section 25 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Takzir) Enactment 2001 and faces a jail term of no more than three years, or a fine of no more than RM5,000, or six whips of the rotan, or any combination of the punishments.
The single mother of a seven-year-old daughter pleaded for a lighter sentence as she said she could not afford the fine.
She also told the court that she had not received any financial support from her former husband.
Rosdi will decide on the final sentence on Thursday (Sept 27).
