KUALA LUMPUR: Only five out of 11 public marinas worth RM323.16mil were functioning, according to the Auditor-General's Report 2017.
“The objective of developing the public marinas had not succeeded fully because only five out of 11 marinas that were built were currently operational,” the report stated.
The report, which was tabled in Parliament on Monday (Aug 6), noted that the projects were initiated under the 8th and 9th Malaysia Plans to spur the recreational sailing industry.
However, the marinas were poorly managed with the Marine Department failing to implement a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) to evaluate the projects.
