Health Ministry: HFMD not detected at Setia City Mall

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has denied that hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) has been detected at the Setia City Mall in Shah Alam as alleged on social media.

Selangor Health department director Datuk Dr Khalid Ibrahim said the department had received confirmation from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) that the allegation was not true.

In a statement posted on the department's Facebook page Friday, Dr Khalid said the Health Ministry viewed seriously the allegation that went viral on social media which claimed that the MBSA Health Department had announced that HFMD had been detected at the Setia City Mall.

He advised the public to check any information or news related to HFMD before believing or spreading it, especially if the information was not issued by the Health Ministry.

Dr Khalid said information should be verified with the ministry first before it is shared.
