Unity campaign makes spirited return


SHAH ALAM: Malaysia’s favourite unity campaign #AnakAnakMalaysia is back. This year, its theme is moving forward as a nation.

Now in its fourth year, the campaign – a collaboration between Eco World Develop­ment Group Bhd and Star Media Group – continues to bring Malaysians together to honour Merdeka and Malaysia Day.

The #AnakAnakMalaysia 2018 campaign also seeks to explore the idea of continuous progress for a greater Malaysia driven by empowerment, hope and creativity.

Organising chairman of the campaign Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said he took pride in the campaign as it aimed to unite all Malaysians and impart to the younger generation the importance of being together as one and having a sense of belonging to the nation.

“We must never regard ourselves according to race first. We should be Malaysians first and foremost.

“My message to the #AnakAnakMalaysia or the children of Malaysia is to be prepared to work harder and make sacrifices for the betterment of the country,” said Lee after the campaign launch at the Eco Ardence Sales Gallery in Setia Alam here yesterday.

Star Media Group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai said #AnakAnakMalaysia had become a compulsory annual event for Malaysians.

“The crowd has continued to grow and so has the campaign. It initially started as a platform to promote moderation, but it has since evolved.

“We are proud to say that the #AnakAnak­Malaysia Walk is the only event of its kind that exclusively promotes a true Malaysian campaign dedicated to unity,” said Wong.

Eco World Development Group chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin said this year’s theme is full of hope for the nation as it moves towards a new Malaysia.

“The reason our country has come this far is because of its people, who continue to be united despite their differences.

“That’s why, along with Star Media Group, we want to show that we have faith in this continued unity and will back it all the way,” said Liew.

The campaign will also see the distribution of 600,000 signature wristbands that come with five snazzy interchangeable pins.

The limited edition pins can be collected during the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk.

Early bird prices end on July 31. The registration fee is RM30 per adult, RM15 per child and RM80 for a family package that includes two adults and two children.

Starting Aug 1, the registration fee will be RM40 per adult, RM20 per child and RM100 for the family package.
