Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng killed in accident

KAJANG: Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng (pic) has passed away following an accident early Friday.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the accident occurred at around 12.40am on July 20.

"He was travelling along the Grand Saga Expressway headed to Kajang from Kuala Lumpur in a 4WD vehicle when he collided into the back of a lorry near KM11.7.

"The 40-year-old victim died at the scene," he said when contacted on Friday.

His body has been sent to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre for post-mortem.

Ng had just celebrated his 40th birthday earlier this month on July 5.

The DAP assemblyman is survived by his wife and three children aged 13, 15 and 17.

His death will force the second by-election after the 14th General Election.

The first is due to be held on Aug 4 for the Sg Kandis state constituency following the death of its assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafie, 50, of PKR on July 2 due to lymphoma cancer.

In GE14, Ng defeated Barisan Nasional's Lim Chin Wah and PAS' Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali by a majority of 35,538 votes.
