Outpouring of condolences for Eddie Ng

PETALING JAYA: An outpouring of condolences was shared on social media following the sudden passing of Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng.

Ng had passed away following a car accident early Friday (July 20) on the Grand Saga Expressway, when his four-wheel drive vehicle collided into the back of a lorry near KM11.7 at 12.40am.

On Twitter, several people expressed their sadness over his death. Many called him a "friend", "comrade" and a "good person", saying that he will be missed.

Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali expressed his condolences to Ng's family.

"The new Balakong assemblyman passed away in a road accident. It is a big loss to all of us," tweeted Azmin.

Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari also expressed his sympathy and offered condolences to Ng's family on Twitter.

"My condolences to his (Ng) family. I feel sad and shocked upon receiving the news of YB Ng Tien Chee's passing," said Amirudin.

Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei shared a photo of her and Ng on her Twitter page.

"This is one of the photos I think is pure Eddie - full of life and laughter," she tweeted.

"We got to know each other better when we were tasked with arranging accommodations during the Sungai Besar by-election. We will miss you so much," said Lim.

"It is a big loss for the people of Selangor," tweeted Batu Pahat MP Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon who is also Parliament Deputy Speaker.

Former Bersih secretariat Mandeep Singh shared how he would always call Ng to help with security when organising Bersih rallies.

"Never once he disappointed," tweeted Mandeep.

He also shared how he went to Balakong three times to speak at ceramahs during the 14th General Election campaigning period.

"We were suppose to meet after 9th May to eat but we were both busy, we delayed it. And today, you are gone forever, Eddie," said Mandeep.

Twitter user @The_Mamu shared how Ng was the "backbone" of DAP's volunteer corps dubbed "Unit Tindak" that he headed.

"He was an outstanding assemblyman, very humble, and well liked. He was always smiling and always says hello. Such a loss," tweeted @The_Mamu.

Ng had just celebrated his 40th birthday earlier this month on July 5.

The DAP assemblyman is survived by his wife and three children aged 13, 15 and 17.
