Umno-linked NGO to lodge reports against MACC over frozen accounts

PETALING JAYA: An NGO aligned with Umno will be filing police reports against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Prime Minister on Friday (July 6) night.

Pemantau Malaysia Baru president Datuk Lokman Noor Adam (pic) said they will file a report against the MACC for freezing the bank account of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's grandson.

Najib's daughter Nooryana Najwa had claimed that her personal and son’s bank accounts were frozen after she posted bail for her father.

She wrote on a closed Facebook group "Malaysians for Civil Liberty" on Thursday (July 5), saying that her bank informed her that it received instructions to freeze both the accounts.

While MACC deputy commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki had on Thursday (July 5) denied freezing the bank accounts, Lokman pointed out it was the grandson's Junior Saver account, which was under Nooryana's name, that was frozen.

Meanwhile, Lokman said Pemantau Malaysia Baru will also file a separate police report against Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over allegations that RM2.6bil went into Najib's personal account.

"We are lodging a report against the Prime Minister who won the elections by slandering Najib for allegedly stealing RM2.6bil from 1MDB when this was not even included in the court charges against him," said Lokman.

He added that there would be a gathering in front of the Sogo shopping mall at 9pm tonight.

"Many leaders and NGOs will be there tonight. We expect at least 300 people to come for the gathering.

"At 9.30pm, we will move to the Dang Wangi police station to file the two police reports," said Lokman.

On Wednesday (July 4), Najib claimed trial to three counts of criminal breach of trust and another charge of abuse of power involving RM42mil linked to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The High Court set a bail amount of RM1mil and allowed him to pay the first half of RM500,000 on Wednesday, with the balance to be settled by next Monday (July 9).

His children Norashman and Nooryana Najwa posted the bail.
