Free Najib fund raises over RM86K as of Friday (July 6) morning

PETALING JAYA: Organisers of the "Free Najib" fund are confident they can help Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak raise his second bail instalment of RM500,000 before the court deadline at 3pm next Monday (July 9).

The spokesman of the "Solidariti Bersama Datuk Najib" fund said that a total of RM86,282 had been collected as at 9.30am Friday (July 6).

The fund was launched a day earlier on July 5.

“We are optimistic of meeting the target and will hand over all the donations we managed to receive to the court at 3pm on Monday to help pay for the second instalment of Datuk Seri Najib's bail," said Datuk Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii.

On Wednesday (July 4), Najib was charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust and one count of abuse of power involving RM42bil linked to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) subsidiary.

Mohd Razlan said donations to the fund included a small amount of cash with most of the remaining amount comprising bank transfers.

"The fund has received donations from all over the country as well as from Singapore and Canada.

"Some people even cried when they called us to express their sadness over what has happened to Datuk Seri Najib," Mohd Razlan claimed.
