Melaka Health Department cracks down on dirty eateries

MELAKA: The Melaka Health Department has been ordered to close down eateries known to be unhygienic, said state Health and Anti-Drug committee chairman Low Chee Leong.

He cited a latest complaint about a chicken rice outlet, which apparently had crows hovering near the restaurant, pecking on slaughtered chicken hung at the back of the premises.

This warranted immediate action, he said, adding that restaurants with similar “reputations” were being scrutinised.

“They are given enough time to improve their cleanliness before they can reopen,” he said.

He also said food safety authorities had been told to collect random samples to test the food.
