PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad received a courtesy call from United States Ambassador to Malaysia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir at his Perdana Leadership Foundation office.

It is Lakhdhir’s first official meeting with Dr Mahathir since he became Prime Minister on May 10.

“I was pleased to meet with the Prime Minister and congratulate him and all of Pakatan Harapan on the momentous win.

“We are looking forward to working with the Prime Minister and his newly-appointed cabinet as they form the new government,” Lakhdhir said in a tweet posted on the US Embassy Kuala Lumpur Twitter account.

The meeting lasted about an hour and Lakhdhir left at 3.30pm.

Since becoming Prime Minister on May 10, Dr Mahathir has received a number of visits from foreign dignitaries.

These include Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Brunei’s ruler Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Earlier, former Petrosaudi executive Xavier Andre Justo, was also spotted by reporters at the Perdana Leadership Foundation.

The 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) whistleblower was seen leaving the foundation at 2pm, over an hour after he arrived.

He however did not stop to address the reporters who were camping outside the foundation.

It is the second time in two days Justo had paid Dr Mahathir a visit.

After his first visit on Sunday (May 20), Justo posted a photograph of himself with Dr Mahathir on his Facebook account.

“What a great privilege and what an incredible moment!” he wrote.

Justo is said to have shared internal information on 1MDB to Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown.
