PUTRAJAYA: Observers from 14 countries from Asean, the Commonwealth, Asia and Europe will be invited to observe GE14, says the Election Commission (EC).

EC chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said this is apart from the 14 local non-governmental organisations and university representatives that will also be observing the polls.

“Other than those who have been appointed and invited, no other organisation or individuals will be recognised.

“The observers will be allowed to go to nomination centres, early voting centres and counting stations,” he said on Tuesday (April 10).

Earlier, Mohd Hashim announced that polling will be on May 9, nomination on April 28 and early voting on May 5.

The EC has also set up 445 enforcement teams to monitor the election process.

A total of 259,391 election workers who are members of the public have been appointed to help in the polls.
