KOTA KINABALU: Three homemade shotguns, known in Sabah as bakakuk, were seized by the police during a raid on the house of a suspected drug dealer in Kinabatangan.

Kinabatangan police chief Supt A. Sahak Rahmat said officers also seized RM1,000 in cash, 34 bullets and about 50gm of drugs worth RM5,000 in the raid in Kampung Buang Sayang at 11.15am on Saturday.

The seized items were hidden in various places in the house, including the ceiling.

The 28-year-old suspect and a 39-year-old man believed to be a customer, were arrested.

Supt A. Sahak said: “We earlier arrested a drug addict in connection to this case and he spilled the beans on the suspect.”

The drug dealer, who is believed to have been involved in the trade for more than a year, will also be investigated under the Firearms Act.

Meanwhile, in Labuan, a sergeant from the Labuan Correctional Centre (Prison), who slashed his own neck while running amok, died while being treated at the Labuan Nucleus Hospital.

The 53-year-old collapsed at the emergency ward at 9.10pm on Saturday after being admitted three hours earlier, reported Bernama.

The man had earlier stabbed his wife multiple times and injured his son, who tried to intervene, after becoming agitated over their marital problems.

A three-hour standoff with the man ended when police managed to persuade the man to drive his own car to the police station to surrender at 6pm.

His traumatised wife, 45, is still in the Labuan Hospital while the 23-year-old son has been discharged.
