KUALA KANGSAR: Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah announced that the Perak State Assembly has been dissolved.
During a simple ceremony at Istana Iskandariah here on Monday (April 9), Sultan Nazrin made the announcement and said that the election was a process that allows the people to exercise their right to choose their government.
"The people's rights and opportunity need to be respected, appreciated and must not be denied.
"Based on the last 13 general elections, the people need to show political wisdom and practise a mature political culture," he said.
He also called on political parties not to cause friction between the people in the process of trying to win their support.
"Politic parties – especially their leaders – need to show responsibility at all times, to ensure aspects of safety, public order and unity.
"They must not touch on religion, race, culture and language, and any other elements that can disrupt the harmonious relationship and unity of the people," he said.
It is learnt that Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir met with Sultan Nazrin on Saturday (April 7).
