KUALA LUMPUR: Component party leaders of Barisan Nasional has described the coalition's manifesto as comprehensive, holistic and realistic.
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic) said the manifesto gives out a “wow” factor to the general public, and it proves the commitment of Barisan to Malaysians.
“We are confident that this manifesto will be well received by the people.
"More than 300 commitments contained in the 220-page manifesto are comprehensive and it covers all the needs of the country,” he told reporters when met after the launch of Barisan’s manifesto in the Axiata Arena Stadium on Saturday (April 7).
Liow also praised the manifesto’s pledge to allow Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) holders to enrol in public universities.
“It is very inclusive for all races with different mother tongues. This shows that Malaysia is a multiracial country,” he said, while vowing to ensure that the UEC pledge will be implemented right after the 14th General Election.
MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said that the announcement of mega projects across Malaysia is proof by Barisan that no one will be left behind as the country moves forward.
At the same time, Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong regards the manifesto as a testament of the government’s commitment in offering the people a feasible and realistic plan for the country.
“This is a focused, holistic, and realistic manifesto by Barisan. It shows that Barisan cares for the people."
Mah said that the manifesto will ensure that Malaysians, particularly in the B40 (bottom 40) and the M40 (middle 40) groups, will not be left out in the development of the country.
“The manifesto is really special and different compared with previous Barisan manifestos.”
