Man sentenced to death over murder of cosplay fan

SHAH ALAM: A self-employed man was sentenced to death by a High Court here for murdering a 15-year-old cosplay fan five years ago.

Justice Azman Husin meted out the sentence against Poon Wai Hong, 28, after the defence failed to prove a reasonable doubt in the case.

Justice Azman, in his judgment Tuesday (April 3), said the accused’s evidence contradicted with the post-mortem report.

Poon was charged with murdering Ng Yuk Tim whose body was stuffed in a suitcase.

He was accused of murdering the girl at a house at Kampung Cempaka in Kelana Jaya between 3pm and 4pm on Oct 21, 2013.

The girl was believed to have gone to the man's house the previous day to get help with some cosplay costumes.
