Friend charged with murder of cosplay fan


 

PETALING JAYA: The 23-year-old friend of cosplay fan Ng Yuk Tim has been charged with her murder at a magistrate’s court here.

Poon Wai Hong, who was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code – which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction – showed no emotion when this was read to him. Wearing a white T-shirt, the building maintenance worker was barefooted when he was brought into the court room.

Poon was accused of murdering the 15-year-old girl at a house in Jalan PJU 1/4F, Kampung Cempaka in Kelana Jaya between 3pm and 4pm on Oct 21.

No plea was recorded and no bail was granted.

Magistrate K.B. Elena Hong Tze Lan fixed Dec 6 for mention. DPP Saphirra Selamat prosecuted.

The accused was represented by Datuk Suraj Singh while Datuk R.S. Sodhi held a watching brief for the victim’s family.

Also in the court were Yuk Tim’s family members, including her mother Sim Yee Ling, who looked emotional during the proceedings.

Yuk Tim’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase near Kota Kemuning in Shah Alam.
