Johor cops arrest two teens for alleged bullying of mentally disabled man

KLUANG: Police have arrested two 18-year-olds for allegedly bullying a mentally disabled man at a community centre here.

The 20-year-old victim was at the playground in Taman Sri Kluang when the teenagers approached him and one of them used a tree branch to intimidate the victim.

A 30-second video clip of the incident has since gone viral after it was uploaded on Kami Anak Jati Kluang, Johor Facebook page.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Laham said that one of teens had recorded the incident that occurred at about 8.30am on March 13.

“The bullies also took the victim’s mobile phone, RM20 in cash and his sling bag.

“The father brought the victim to lodge a report after watching the viral video,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday (March 14).

ACP Mohamed said that police successfully detained the alleged bullies at around 11.10pm the same day at Taman Gunung Lambak.

“A check revealed that both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said adding that the case has been classified under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion.
