46 illegal foreign workers nabbed in Felda settlements

KOTA BARU: Some 46 illegal foreign workers were rounded up in a three-day operation at a metal ore mine and a night market at Felda settlements in Gua Musang.

State Immigration Department enforcement chief Ruzaana Mohamed said the Bangladeshi, Myanmar, Cambodian and Indonesian nationals were nabbed at Felda Aring 5 and Felda Chiku 3 during Ops Mega that started on Friday night (March 9).

“Of the 202 foreigners inspected, 46 did not have valid documents including work permits,” she said in response to queries from the media on Monday.

Investigation is being carried out under Section 6(1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

“We will take stern action. Even the employers would not be spared.

“We will conduct such operations from time to time to nab those working without permits and overstaying,” she warned.

A total of 25 illegal migrants were nabbed at a night market in Felda Chiku 3, and 21 were detained at a metal ore mine in Felda Aring 5.
