Six arrested over cook's murder

JOHOR BARU: Police have nabbed six men in connection with the murder of a cook in Yong Peng.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said police had initially detained two suspects hours after receiving the report pertaining to the robbery-cum-murder of Tan Chi Ann (pic) on Feb 13.

"Further investigations then led us to arrest four more suspects, aged between 25 and 40 years," he said.

All the suspects have been remanded to assist with investigations.

Tan, 47, was stabbed to death in a snatch theft along Jalan Sutera 7 in Taman Sutera, Yong Peng on Feb 13.

She was riding her motorcycle on her way back home from visiting her family when she was approached by the suspects at around 1.25am.

Tan put up a fight when one of the men snatched her handbag and was stabbed in the process.
