JOHOR BARU: Police have identified one of the suspects involved in the robbery-cum-murder of a cook in Yong Peng.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said that police were tracking down the man as well as his accomplices.

“However, we still need cooperation from the public, especially those who witnessed the incident.

“We believe that someone might have seen the whole incident and we urge them to step forward to assist with the ongoing investigations,” he added during a press conference held at the state police headquarters here on Wednesday evening.

The victim, Tan Chi Ann, 47, was stabbed to death after visiting her family’s house in Taman Sutera in Yong Peng at around 1.25am on Tuesday (Feb 13) morning.

She was approached by a group, one of whom tried to snatch the victim’s handbag.

Tan put up a fight but this angered the suspects and one of them then stabbed her several times in the chest resulting in her death.
