Rapid KL to extend services at Gombak LRT station for Thaipusam

PETALING JAYA: Rapid KL will be extending its LRT services at the Gombak station in conjunction with the upcoming Thaipusam celebrations.
 
On Wednesday (Jan 31), the operating hours of Gombak LRT station on the Kelana Jaya Line will be extended until 2am.
 
The train frequency will be every 30 minutes departing Gombak station after normal train service hours.
 
RapidKL will also be providing special shuttle bus services between Batu Caves and Gombak LRT during that period.
 
Other LRT and MRT and monorail stations will operate at normal operating hours.
 
"Commuters can enter the Gombak LRT station at any time until 2am and exit at any LRT or MRT stations," Rapid KL said in a statement on Monday (Jan 29).
 
It said train services for Ampang / Sri Petaling Line and MRT Sungai Buloh - Kajang Line will also be extended to accommodate the late commuters.
 
"The trains will wait for the last service train from Gombak at integration stations of Masjid Jamek and Pasar Seni. Services will be at an interval of every 30 minutes," Rapid KL said.
 
There will, however, be no extension for KL Monorail service and BRT - Sunway Line.
 
For travelling convenience, LRT users are encouraged to use MyRapid Touch 'n Go (TnG) cards or any TnG cards.
 
Commuters are also encouraged to park at Park n Ride facilities along the LRT and MRT alignments.
 
Priced at RM2 per trip, the shuttle bus services will operate at a frequency of 30 minutes depending on traffic condition.
 
Rapid KL is also providing a special shuttle service between Pasar Seni Bus Hub and Batu Caves beginning Tuesday (Jan 30).
 
Running at a frequency of between 10 and 15 minutes, the service will commence from 4.30pm and end at 11pm on Wednesday (Jan 31).
 
The fare is also RM2 per trip.
 
Rapid KL also reminded commuters that there will be changes in its usual bus services around Batu Caves and Gombak due to road closures imposed by the authorities.
 
The affected routes are as below:
• Route 173: Hub Tmn Jasa Utama - Lebuh Ampang
• Route 171: Hub Wira Damai - Lebuh Ampang
• Route T204: Hub Greenwood - Kg. Nahkoda
• Route MPS 01: Hub Selayang Mutiara - Gombak LRT station
