Student allegedly attempts suicide after teacher accuses her of stealing handphone

NIBONG TEBAL: A 14-year-old student is believed to have attempted suicide after being accused of stealing her teacher's handphone.

It is understood that the Form Two student attempted to hang herself after her teacher interrogated her and told her she would be taken to the police station.

David Marshel, the national president of NGO Malaysian Tamilar Kural said the school had not followed standard operating procedures as the teacher who accused the girl was also allowed to take her home and meet with her parents.

"I am looking into the matter and will take the parents to file a police report. The girl was traumatised by the incident after repeatedly saying she did not steal the handphone," he said when met at the school on Friday (Jan 26).
