KUALA LUMPUR: Tabung Amanah Warisan Polis (TAWP) or the Police Heritage Trust Fund will receive a special allocation for the welfare of retired police personnel.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the allocation during the Police Retirees Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre here Monday.

“We decided to allocate RM3mil every year for three years to the TAWP,” he said.

Najib added that police retirees would also be given a special quota to perform the haj.

“I will need to talk to (Saudi Ruler King Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud) on how many places can be allocated.

“We will announce the numbers for the quota at a later time,” he said.

Also in attendance at the event were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

Mohamad Fuzi said the TAWP was set up in 1992 to look into the welfare of retired police personnel.

“Throughout 2017, the fund has contributed RM1.06mil to 1,133 retirees and their families,” he added.
