SHAH ALAM: Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said that she was overwhelmed and touched that Pakatan Harapan has nominated her as the coalition's candidate for Deputy Prime Minister.
In accepting the nomination, Dr Wan Azizah said that the Opposition will only be relevant if it can bring change in policies and systems to improve the country.
"In fact, our real struggle begins after we win the mandate from the rakyat to rule the country," she said after her nomination on Sunday (Jan 7).
The announcement was made by Pakatan secretariat chief Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah. Saifuddin named Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the candidate for the deputy prime minister's post.
The agreement also stipulated that a royal pardon will be obtained for PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim if Pakatan wrested Putrajaya from Barisan.
Anwar will be made the prime minister once the royal pardon has been obtained.
Earlier, Pakatan Harapan leaders unanimously decided that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be the coalition's candidate for the Prime Minister's post if it manages to take Putrajaya.
