Jailed and fined for road rage

Facing the law: Mathan being led into the courtroom in Klang.

KLANG: A security guard has been sentenced to four days’ jail and fined RM6,000 for criminal intimidation in a recent road rage incident.

T. Mathan, 25, pleaded guilty before magistrate Nor Asma Ahmad after the charge was read to him by a court interpreter here yesterday.

He was charged with criminal intimidation for wielding a hockey stick at Huang Tiong Yeong, 37, at the Berkeley roundabout at 1.15pm on Saturday.

In appealing for a light sentence, Mathan’s counsel Gerard Lazarus said his client was married with a three-year-old son and earned only RM1,500 a month.

Lazarus added that his client is a chronic diabetic on long-term medication and that he had apologised to the victim.
