JOHOR BARU: Six people have been remanded over the murder of an alleged underworld leader at a petrol station here.
Magistrate Noor Aisyah Ahmad granted a seven-day remand order for the six suspects — five men in their 20s and a 19-year-old teenage girl — when they were brought to court on Thursday (Dec 21).
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd had confirmed on Wednesday (Dec 20) that a 22-year-old man and the girl had been detained at to assist with investigations.
The four others are believed to have been detained on Thursday.
On Sunday (Dec 17), a 44-year-old man identified only as Ah Chiu, was savagely attacked by four men at a petrol station along Jalan Sri Pelangi here.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said on Tuesday (Dec 19) that a fight between two triads was the cause of the brutal murder.
He said police had identified the four assailants and that a manhunt has been launched to nab the suspects.
