KAJANG: It was a case of chopping and slashing, in more ways than one. A man suspected his car had been cannibalised for parts at a workshop near here, and was attacked when he asked too many questions.

Kajang deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Sabri Abdullah said the 35-year-old car owner had left his broken down car at a workshop in Simpang Balak in July.

“He had not collected the car as he was facing some financial troubles and couldn’t pay for the repairs,” Supt Mohd Sabri said.

However, when the owner returned to the workshop to enquire about his car on Nov 15, he noticed a few components missing, and he believed they had been stolen.

He asked one of the workshop employees, only to be verbally abused and shoved to the back of the workshop.

“The suspect then picked up a parang (machete) and slashed the car owner’s left hand,” Supt Mohd Sabri said.

The car owner received stitches for his injury and filed a police report.

Police arrested the workshop employee on Friday and also seized the machete he allegedly used to hurt the car owner.

Although the suspect tested negative for drugs, “he has a past record for drug offences,” Supt Mohd Sabri said.

He will be brought to court for his remand hearing on Saturday (Nov 25).

Police are conducting further investigations into the case, which has been classified as voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
