PETALING JAYA: Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim (pic) has cancelled a function in Terengganu to fly back to Kuala Lumpur to oversee operations at the fire at a religious school in Kampung Datuk Keramat.
At least 21 students and two teachers perished in the fire that broke out at the school at about 5.00am on Thursday.
A department's spokesman said Wan Mohd Nor would be travelling back on the department's helicopter and is expected to arrive at Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz by 11am.
The spokesman said Wan Mohd Nor decided to cancel his Terengganu function as he was very concerned with the developments at the Datuk Keramat fire.
