Agong, dignitaries pay respects to Tuanku Abdul Halim

ALOR SETAR: Thousands gathered at Istana Anak Bukit here to pay their last respects to the late Sultan of Kedah Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah who passed away on Monday.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V arrived at the Istana's Balai Penghadapan at 12.40pm on Tuesday.

Among the other dignitaries present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Raja Permaisuri Norashikin Abdul Rahman

Also seen were Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, Kedah MCA liaison committee chairman Datuk Lee Chee Leong, Kedah MCA deputy chairman Datuk Dr Leong Yong Kong, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and former Selangor mentri besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

Tuanku Abdul Halim passed away at 2.30pm on Monday at the age of 89.

The late Sultan will be laid to rest at the Langgar Royal Mausoleum at 4pm.
