IPOH: DAP lawmaker Howard Lee Chuan How (pic) has denied acquiring citizenship from any other country.

In a Facebook posting, the Pasir Pinji assemblyman said he had never received any foreign citizenship, either by application or by birth.

Political blogger Lim Sian See had questioned Lee's loyalty and allegiance to the country on Tuesday claiming that the assemblyman had failed to make it overseas and had returned to Malaysia.

Lim alleged that Lee had failed to get a British citizenship after many tries, and that he had contested as a Liberal Democratic party candidate in 2010 and lost.

He said that Lee then came back to Malaysia and contested on a DAP ticket.

In his Facebook post, Lee said his Malaysian citizenship is indisputable both in spirit and in law.

The first-term assemblyman added that he welcomed anyone who wished to challenge the fact through the proper channels.

"It is not for me to waste time disproving their false accusations, as the burden of proof is on them," he said.
