Indonesian embassy: We have faith in Malaysian legal system

SEPANG: The Indonesian Embassy has expressed confidence in Malaysia’s legal system in regards to the prosecution of its citizen Siti Aisyah.

Indonesian Deputy Ambassador to Malaysia Andreano Erwin said the embassy has no doubt that Malaysia will handle the case involving the Indonesian in full accordance with the law.

“We will also send an official request to the Malaysian Government to visit Siti Aisyah, who is being placed at Kajang Prison.

“It is to enable our panel of lawyers, led by Gooi Soon Seng, to discuss the case with her,” he said when met outside the court complex, shortly after Siti and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong were charged with the murder of a North Korean man.

“We are confident that justice will prevail as we have appointed five lawyers to handle this case.

“We do not have doubt on the way Malaysian authorities have proceeded with the case,” he said.

Siti’s four other lawyers are S. Selvi, Azura Alias, Loke Kok Mun and Wong Kah Hung.

There were also three people, who, when asked if they were from the Vietnamese Embassy, nodded. However, they did not speak to the media.

Doan’s lawyer S. Selvam later confirmed that there were embassy staff among those at the court complex.
