JOHOR BARU: It was a heart-wrenching moment as the Johor Ruler met the next of kin of eight cyclists who died in a horrific tragedy.
Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar broke into tears when speaking to the families at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital mortuary.
The Ruler expressed his condolences and offered his advice to the parents, urging them to monitor their children’s whereabouts and not to allow them to roam the streets at night.
“Those who have left us, will not return.
“Nothing will change what has happened.
“I share their sadness as I too, have lost a son,” he said, tearing up as he consoled the families.
Later, Sultan Ibrahim and the families recited prayers together before the Ruler left.
Meanwhile, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin expressed his heartfelt condolences to the affected family members.
“I hope that the families will stay strong and also pray for a speedy recovery of those injured.
“This is very tragic.
“I urge all parties, including parents, to ensure such an incident will not recur,” Mohamed Khaled said in a statement.
