Top-ranking civil servant arrested for graft


PETALING JAYA: A top-ranking civil servant with the title of "Datuk" is the latest to be detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for alleged corruption.

It is learnt that a team from the MACC picked up the secretary-general of a Federal ministry at about 8am on Wednesday.

The suspect, aged 59, was detained at his house in USJ Subang Jaya near here.

He is suspected to have abused his power and position since 2010 to solicit for bribes.

Initial investigations showed the suspect had a direct hand in appointing contractors, suppliers and vendors.
