GEORGE TOWN: A man remained seated in his stalled car when floods hit Lebuhraya Thean Teik here.
He was spotted using a flask to scoop water out from his car through the window.
His car stalled beside the traffic lights near the Giant hypermarket.
“I rather stay in the car. The water levels may go down soon,” said the man who declined to be named.
A check by The Star showed two cars were abandoned about 30m away.
The driver of one car had apparently tried to turn back near the Bandar Baru Air Itam police station but the car stalled and blocked the two-lane road heading towards Lorong Batu Lanchang.
The 3km road from the Lebuhraya Thean Teik/Jalan Thean Teik/Jalan Angsana junction to the Khoo Kongsi columbarium was flooded.
Big vehicles including factory buses could be seen ploughing through the water.
A guard at Tanjung Court Condominium said the flood waters began rising at about 4.30pm.
“We blocked the exit to prevent motorists from going through since Lebuhraya Thean Teik was flooded.”
