PETALING JAYA: Four women and two men were killed in a fire at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru.

Johor Baru (South) OCPD Asst Comm Sulaiman Salleh confirmed the names of the victims of Tuesday’s incident.

The six people who died are all in their 50s.

The four women have been identified only as Cho Lin Feng, Poh Ah Wah, Kaliama and Meramaladeri, while the two men are identified as Logaswaran and Yusof Hasan.

Asst Comm Sulaiman also confirmed that one person, identified only as Suppamah, who was warded at the ICU when the fire broke out, was rescued while a hospital staff member, Nurul Ain, sustained serious injuries.

The 9am fire forced the evacuation of hundreds of patients and staff.

There were 193 staff and 294 patients at the hospital at the time of the incident.
