Expert: Governor can say no to polls


PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertua Negri, Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas, can withhold consent to any request by the Chief Minister to dissolve the state assembly to pave the way for a snap state election.

“It is within the discretionary powers of the Yang di-Pertua Negri,” said constitutional law expert Assoc Prof Dr Shamrahayu Abdul Aziz.
