Husni resigns from Umno, BN posts

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah (pix) has resigned from all of his party posts, including Umno and Barisan Nasional treasurer.

The former Second Finance Minister also resigned as Tambun Umno division head and several posts in Perak Umno, according to his political secretary Datuk Shamsul Zairil Kamaruddin.

The resignations came as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced on Monday that Husni informed him of his wish to retire from the Cabinet.

"So I respect that, he is quite ready to retire," Najib told a press conference.

Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani has taken over Ahmad Husni’s portfolio.
