PETALING JAYA: The slopes lining tolled highways in the peninsula are relatively safe for now.
Of the 369 slopes lining highways, the Malaysia Highway Authority (MHA) declared 68% to be in good condition.
These slopes were categorised as “moderate”, while 48 others were under “general observation”.
Although slopes under “general observation” were stable and did not require intensive attention, Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said MHA had ordered concessionaires to keep monitoring them.
“No slope under MHA’s watch is in the ‘below satisfactory’ or ‘extremely unsatisfactory’ categories,” he said.
He added that the concessionaires would follow the existing protocol to carry out periodic checks every six months.
