PASIR PUTEH: PAS has reiterated the party's stand that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is forbidden as it does not fulfil the tax conditions outlined by the Ulama.

Its Dewan Ulama chief Datuk Dr Mahfodz Mohamed (pic) said that GST was haram (forbidden) for failing several conditions.

Speaking at the opening of the 55th Dewan Ulama assembly here on Wednesday night, Dr Mahfodz said the money collected by the Government through GST must not be due to leakages or previous wasteful financial management.

"The GST should only be imposed on those who have excess income," he said, claiming that GST had led to hardship due to the increase in the prices of goods.
