Rafizi makes MACC report on alleged graft in S’gor

PUTRAJAYA: PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on his claims of alleged graft in the Selangor government.

The Pandan MP met officers from the investigation division for about an hour at the MACC headquarters.

“I have submitted information passed to me in relation to the running of the Selangor government and certain individuals.

“I cannot give specific details as it is against the law.

“I hope the MACC will carry out a thorough investigation, putting aside politics and perception,” he said when met after the meeting yesterday.

Rafizi noted that it was rare for a party leader to lodge a report against his own members, however he stressed that “it should be the way.”

“This should be something normal but we are so used to politicising every action.

“As the secretary-general, I have been by the party’s political bureau to make a report on misconduct by our own members.

“This should be the culture. Be fair to both the state government and the MACC,” he said.

“If there is a case, then investigations should be allowed,” Rafizi added.

Pakatan Harapan chief secretary Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen and Kapar MP G. Manivannan were among some 50 people who gathered outside to show their support for Rafizi.

The allegations first surfaced when a WhatsApp message in a closed group of PKR members was purportedly leaked and went viral on the social media.

Rafizi has confirmed that he wrote the message, claiming he had information that “money and women” were demanded in dealings with the PKR-led state government.

Following a political bureau meeting, party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail told Rafizi to submit the evidence to the MACC.
