No division in the party, says Fahmi

PETALING JAYA: There is no split in PKR despite secretary-general Rafizi Ramli’s move to lodge a report on alleged graft in the Selangor government, says party communications director Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi said Rafizi’s report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) did not refer to any elected representative or state civil servant.

“There is nobody questioning Rafizi’s actions. The party leadership asked him to submit the report to MACC,” said Fahmi.

“There is no conflict. There are some parties who want to give this perception of division within the party. It is not true,” he said.

Amanah communications director, Khalid Samad said Rafizi’s action in making the report was commendable and added that it would not affect the twin by-elections – in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar – for the opposition coalition.

“This shows that Pakatan Harapan is a party which has transparency, accountability and that it wants to be a clean government.

“Whenever there are allegations, you take action irrespective of timing,” the Shah Alam MP said.

“No one tried to prevent him from making the report. In fact, the state government has said it’s open to court proceedings and investigation,” he said.

Seremban MP and DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke said there are bigger issues on the table for the opposition.

“I feel this whole issue is unrelated to the by-elections, there are bigger issues to be looked into,” he said.

The by-elections are set to take place on June 18, with nominations on Sunday.
